Class Description: This 30 mins, small group class introduces skaters to ice dance steps and rhythmic performance to a piece of music. Ice dance steps and patterns in this class align with the Learn to Skate USA ice dance badge program and will allow skaters to earn ice dance badges. Ice dancers begin by learning dance steps such as swing rolls and progressives, and a series of set pattern dances to various musical rhythms like Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, and Rhythm Blues. Dances can be performed either solo or with a partner. Solo Dance competition has become very popular recently and experience from this class will enable skaters to test and compete in these competitions. Ice dance is great for adults who may not be inclined to jumps and spins, and for anyone who wants to work on their edges and musicality.
