Welcome back to Blue Edge for 2025! Our opening day on Sunday, January 5, 2025 was a tremendous success as we welcomed advanced skaters, coaches, returning and new Learn to Skate skaters back to our beautiful ice in the M&T Bank arena at Quinnipiac University. Our LTS program is run by BEFSC of CT, a non-profit, USFS sanctioned skating club and not a private rink, thus providing a distinct set of resources for our members.Over fifty skaters are now enrolled in the Sunday Learn to Skate program, a testament to the hard work of our Program Director, John Cain, our coaches and our tireless board. I feel proud to be working with this group of folks who work to provide a very high quality Learn to Skate program to beginner skaters of all ages. We have just posted a new Learn to Skate session for Tuesday evenings at 5:15PM beginning Tuesday January 21st. Enrollment is still open for this LTS session. We are also continuing Advanced Skills with Coach John and Adult Artistry with coach Lizzie on this same evening session. Ice Dance with Coach Lizzie is also offered on Sundays. Our Tuesday and Sunday Practice Ice sessions are about to become very busy these next few weeks. Come and practice that new spin, jump or ice dance!
Finally, Blue Edge is planning our second Basic Skills Compete USA competition scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025 which will be held at the M&T Bank Arena. We have renamed the former Winter Classic to The Blue Edge Classic. Stay tuned for additional information coming soon.As we get busier and busier this winter session, we are always looking for volunteers to support the Board’s efforts. Volunteers help to develop a strong sense of community among our members and are always welcome. You can find me Sundays, rinkside!
Yours,
Nancy Brittingham
